We don't want your data. We just want to run your account.

When you sign up, our authentication provider stores your email address and the first name or nickname you give us. That's it for registration.

When you pay, Stripe, our payment processor, handles your card. Stripe keeps that information on their side. On our side we only ever see the last four digits and the expiration date.

When you use the dashboard, our server logs basic request information including URL, timestamp, and IP address. Those logs are kept for roughly 30 days for debugging, which is standard for any web application.

A handful of companies help us run the site, and each one only touches the slice of data it needs to do its job. Our sign in provider stores your email and name. Stripe processes payments. Our database holds your account, membership, and purchase records. A cache layer stores short lived data and the anonymous checkout measurements described below. Our email service delivers receipts, renewal reminders, and the daily writeups. Our hosting provider serves the site and keeps the short term server logs. We don't add a company to this list unless running the product requires it.

Signed in, you carry one cookie, the session cookie that keeps you logged in.

If you arrive through a referral or affiliate link, we set one more: a first party cookie named ats_ref that remembers who sent you for 30 days, so we can credit them if you decide to subscribe. It is the only cookie that tracks anything, it lives only on this site, and it is never sold, shared with an advertiser, or used to follow you anywhere else. When someone follows a referral link we also log the visit with a one way hashed version of their IP address, never the raw address, just to count clicks.

If you buy without creating an account, we set one more: a cookie that remembers your purchase email for 60 days, so the things you bought stay unlocked on your device. It grants access to your purchases and does nothing else.

To see where people get stuck on the checkout screen, we record anonymous step events, things like reaching the page or entering a card. Each checkout gets a random throwaway id. We never attach your email, your card, or any cross site identifier to it. It exists only so we can fix a confusing checkout, and the events age out on their own.

Some of our email is transactional, and you keep getting it while you have an account: your purchase receipts, the copy of any pick or split you unlock, and the renewal reminder we send 24 hours before a membership charges. The rest is the product itself, the daily writeups members sign up for, and the occasional note to a recent buyer or former member about what is live. Every one of those carries a one click unsubscribe, and you can opt out any time without losing access to anything you paid for. When you opt out we keep your address on our do not send list, because honoring the opt out requires remembering it.

If you turn on pick notifications, your browser gives us a delivery address for that device and we use it for exactly one thing: telling you picks are posted. Turn notifications off in your browser or phone settings any time and that address is gone.

We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't run third party ad trackers, and the little measurement we do is anonymous and never tied to your name or email. We don't build behavioral profiles of how you bet to resell to anyone. Think about how rare that is for a betting site. Your information exists to run your account, process your payments, and credit the people who refer new members, nothing else.

You can delete your account at any time by emailing aheadthespread@gmail.com. We deactivate it and stop using your information within seven business days. Purchase and payment records stay on file as long as tax, accounting, and dispute rules require, then they go too.
